Accessible Outdoors
MDC Areas
Many Missourians enjoy the state’s outdoor resources. Because natural conditions and funding limitations make disability access impractical or impossible at all MDC locations, MDC cannot guarantee such access at any particular site or MDC property. However, MDC is working to remove barriers that prevent persons with disabilities from enjoying the outdoors. Throughout the state, construction of new facilities and renovations at older facilities are providing access to Conservation Department areas, buildings and shooting ranges. It’s a long-term effort, but with the help of a citizen’s accessibility advisory council and continuing training for our staff, we’re making progress.
MDC cannot guarantee accessibility at any particular site or MDC property, but the Conservation Atlas (listed under "MDC Applications" below) provides a quick way to find Conservation Areas that have accessible facilities for people with disabilities. Just pick the area, region or county you are interested in to pull up data from the Atlas.
You can search from this page to find conservation areas with accessible facilities.
