Tom Cwynar describes himself as a longtime hunter-not necessarily a harvester-of deer. He formerly worked as the outdoor editor for a Michigan newspaper and the editor of a national bowhunting magazine. He now lives in Jefferson City and is editor of the Conservationist. |
Freelance outdoor writer Mark Goodwin lives in Jackson and teaches biology at Jackson Senior High School. He enjoys a wide variety of outdoor recreation and spends the bulk of his free time with family and friends in the Missouri Ozarks. |
Bruce Palmer is a forestry education coordinator for the Conservation Department, where he has worked for 20 years. He lives in Jefferson City with his wife and two daughters. Bruce lists skiing, hiking and camping as his favorite activities. He was drawn to forestry by the prospect of being able to work outdoors, but his career now anchors him to a desk. |
For 11 years, Mike Roell has been a fisheries research biologist for the Conservation Department. He began his career leading a rock bass research project on the Big Piney River, sparking a lifelong interest in Missouri's rivers and streams. He feeds this passion with fishing and hunting trips on streams throughout Missouri. |
Bill Turner is a policy coordinator with the Conservation Department in Sedalia. Most of his 24 years with the Department have been spent working with rivers and streams. He enjoys hunting and fishing, particularly while floating rivers in the Midwest. |
Joel Vance reports few victories in his lifelong campaign against Missouri's wild turkeys, but he keeps yelping and purring as if success is just around the corner. Joel, now retired, has published more than 300 stories in the Conservationist. He and his wife, Marty, live near Russellville. |
