Jonathan Beard Dr. Bill Eddleman teaches courses in wildlife biology and management and ornithology at Southeast Missouri State University. His studies of rails have taken him from coast to coast over the last 20 years. Bill is a native of Cape Girardeau, where he lives with his wife, Hope, and son, Chris. He enjoys birding, camping, and hunting, is active in the Audubon Society and chairs the Missouri Bird Records Committee.
Jonathan Beard Bryan Hendricks is managing editor of the Conservationist. A self described quail, skeet and smallmouth bass fanatic, he is a former editor for a national publishing company. His articles and photographs have appeared in more than 60 different publications. His book, "Arkansas, A Guide to Backcountry Travel & Adventure," was published in 1999. He lives in California with his wife, Laura, and their four children.
Jonathan Beard Jim Low is the Conservation Department's news services coordinator. Jim said he was more confident of his eight-week-old golden retriever's natural ability than he was of his dog-training skills. Books, videos and advice from more experienced hunters helped him develop his new puppy's innate talents. He reports that Guiness now retrieves about as well as her master shoots.
Carol Davit Travis Moore is a fisheries management biologist in Hannibal. He works primarily on private lands. He, his wife, Kathi, and their sons, Chance and Jacob, spend a great deal of time outdoors. All four are avid anglers and turkey hunters. They spend the better part of spring tending to their favorite panfish holes.
William R. Elliott Charlotte Overby left her position as staff writer and assistant Conservationist editor to become a full-time freelance writer in 1999. Her articles have appeared in Wildlife Conservation, the Web version of the New York Times, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and many other publications. She likes to hike and canoe, and she teaches backpacking with the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program.
