Jonathan Beard A forester in the southeast region, Mike Anderson has been with the Conservation Department for 24 years. He says he started hunting morels as a child with his father, and over the years he's amassed an impressive collection of mushroom recipes. His favorite is fried morels.
Jonathan Beard Clint Dalbom began working for the Conservation Department in 1982 at the Elkhorn Lookout Tower near Pineville. He is now a private lands conservationist serving Shannon, Texas and Wright counties. He also raises Limousin cattle in Texas County with his wife and two daughters.
Jonathan Beard Joe Garvey is the southeast region forestry supervisor. He's worked for the Conservation Department for 22 years. He says his job has been a lifelong project of educating landowners about the value of their forest resources. He lives in Jackson with his wife, Maryann, and their three children.
Carol Davit A 13-year Conservation Department employee, Tony Jaco is the Private Land Services southeast regional supervisor. He enjoys fishing for flathead catfish and hunting with his wife, Alicia, and their sons, Tyler and Matt. He's also a major fan of NASCAR and Missou football.
William R. Elliott A native of Jefferson City and a lifelong fan of frog symphonies, Beverly Letchworth is a freelance writer living in St. Louis. Her book, Leafbird Days and Firefly Nights, Personal Renewal Through Nature, was recently published by Penn Central Press.
Mark Goodwin Bill White, at 13-year veteran of the Conservation Department, is a private lands specialist stationed at St. Joseph. He said his job entails "something new every day." He lives in Union Star with his wife, Diane, and their four sons.
Jim Low Steve Young works for the Conservation Department as a private land services chief. Although wetlands and waterfowl management have been his professional passion, Steve is a lifelong quail enthusiast. He lives in northern Boone County with his wife, Debbie, and daughter, Sarah.
