When used in a controlled condition, fire can be a beneficial land management tool. The Missouri Department of Conservation will host several free workshops in January and February that will provide information for people who want to use prescribed fire to manage their land.
A free workshop on using prescribed burns to improve wildlife habitat and control unwanted vegetation will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 19 at the Pony Express Conservation Area headquarters south of Maysville.
MDC protects and manages Missouri's fish, forest, and wildlife resources. We also facilitate your participation in resource-management activities, and we provide opportunities for you to use, enjoy and learn about nature. Read more about our mission.
