So You Want to Do a Prescribed Burn on Your Place?
Fire has been used as a management tool by the Missouri Department of Conservation for more than 30 years, but it isn’t as simple as dropping a match and watching it burn. To assist local landowners who want to use prescribed fire on their own property, the Missouri Department of Conservation will be hosting a Prescribed Burn Workshop on Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Twin Pines Conservation Education Center in Winona. Lunch will be provided to all workshop participants.
Expect to learn when to burn, what to burn, how to burn safely and much more.
As part of the workshop, conditions allowing, there will be a live demonstration burn where participants will be able to apply firsthand, on the ground, what they learned in the classroom. Personal protective equipment is required and will be provided.
For more information or to register, contact Gary Gognat at 573-226-3616 ext. 225 or Mike Gaskins at 573-226-3241 ext. 106. There is no cost for the workshop.
