Improved Shooting at Busch Range

Published on: Aug. 8, 2007

For hunters needing a good place to practice shooting, outdoor recreationists who simply enjoy the fun of making good shots and watching mobile videos/movies, or beginners who want to learn to shoot in a safe and welcoming place, there’s good news. After several months of being mostly closed to put improvements in place, the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Busch Shooting Range & Outdoor Education Center in St. Charles has fully reopened as of Aug. 3. We’re extremely happy to have it done before the busier fall season begins!

Busch range is one of five staffed shooting range & outdoor education centers MDC runs in Missouri. They include two near St. Louis, two near Kansas City and one near Springfield. That’s in addition to more than 70 other unstaffed firearms or archery ranges throughout the state.

We’re in the process of designing a new replacement for one of our oldest staffed ranges, Lake City Range near Kansas City. Through a partnership with Jackson County Parks, the new range will be north of the old one in Landahl Park.

These are quite expensive structures to build and maintain, but the many thousands of Missourians who use these staffed ranges each year tell us its something they want and need.

Key Messages:

Conservation makes Missouri a great place to hunt and fish.
