First Archery State Tournament

Mar 05, 2009

It looks like there will be a great turnout this coming Saturday, March 7, 2009, for the first state tournament of the Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program (MoNASP). It’s going to be held at Linn State Technical College, the very same place that just installed a new archery indoor range last autumn. Archery

If you’re interested in seeing some excited kids compete, the event will be held starting at 10 a.m. with awards due later that afternoon.

The number of schools participating in MoNASP more than doubled in the past year, with about 60 participating now. Linn State has a large indoor space adjacent to the indoor range that they’ll turn into a giant archery range for Saturday’s event. More than 260 students are expected to compete. Winners will receive funds from the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation so they can go to the national competition.

Schools can get grants from the Missouri Department of Conservation ($400) and the Conservation Federation of Missouri ($100) to help buy the equipment to start the program.
