Youth Waterfowl Weekend: Duck Creek Opportunities

Oct 26, 2012

Sorry for the late notice, but the flooding situation at Duck Creek has been rather fluid since we turned the wells on. This morning we were able to assess the water conditions in Units A and B. We’ve made considerable progress in the last week and a half. This weekend we will be providing a total of 12 positions on Duck Creek.

• 3 in Unit B south of McGee Creek

• 7 in Unit A

• 1 at the fishponds

• 1 in the Kinder pool

Three additional positions will be available at Dark Cypress.

These are all wade-in hunt opportunities. We currently do not have any blinds available.

The draw for this weekend’s youth hunt will be at 4:45 on Saturday and Sunday.

The last waterfowl count was earlier this week was 4,071 ducks. Yesterday appeared to be a flight day and there were definitely more birds roosting in Pool 1 this morning.

Comments

I was interested in the duck hunting iwas wonder if you could give more information?

I am an avid hunter at Duck Creek, to me it is one of the best places to hunt. I am also upset that the area is not completely ready for season but there is no reason to take it out on the employees at Duck Creek they can only do what the bureacrats in Jeff City will allow. On a lighter not Cordek, could you not close the gates on pool 1 and pump ditch 1 almost dry and recharge pool 1 considerably.

Did the recent rain add any water anywhere
