How Can I Help Joachim Creek?
Joachim Creek is one of only eight healthy stream systems in Jefferson, St. Louis, and St. Charles counties. However, its health is challenged by some agricultural land use and potential urban sprawl. Joachim Creek and its watershed needs your help if it is going to stay healthy.
Here are some things you can do to help:
- Form or join a Stream Team and adopt Joachim Creek
- Ask the Jefferson County Commission and bordering Cities to preserve Joachim Creek by establishing parks and conservation-oriented development rules for its watershed
- Ask the Jefferson County Commission to only allow development that will not harm Joachim Creek
- Ask the Jefferson County Commission and Department of Natural Resources to protect Joachim Creek's water quality
- Ask the Jefferson County Commission and Department of Natural Resources to control stormwater and sewage runoff from new and existing developments
- Comment on Planning and Zoning changes or developments that may harm Joachim Creek
- Advocate greenway development to officials in communities bordering Joachim Creek
- Encourage and help Joachim Creek landowners to plant trees along streambanks
