A 5,387-acre area located southeast of Eminence. It contains 3,872 acres of Department of Conservation land, most of which is within the Peck Ranch Conservation Area. Approximately 250 acres are within the adjacent Mule Mountain Conservation Area. The natural area also includes lands owned by the National Park Service (555 acres) and The Nature Conservancy (960 acres). Located in portions of Sections 15-23 and 25-33, T28N, R2W, and Section 24, T28N, R3W, Stegall Mountain and Van Buren North 7.5 min. topographic maps. This area includes all of the former Rogers Creek Natural Area (486 acres). Designated December 20, 1971 and December 17, 1993.
Natural Features
The largest igneous glade complex in the Lower Ozarks Section of the Ozark Natural Division. The natural area also encompasses igneous and chert forest, dolomite glade and bottomland forest natural communities and protects the Rogers Creek watershed. Rocky Falls, a 40-foot waterfall composed of pink and purple porphyry (igneous rock with mineral crystals of contrasting size), is a significant geologic feature and scenic area located on the National Park Service portion of the natural area.
