A 160-acre area in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways and on Department of Conservation land, about three miles north of Mountain View in the SE1/4 of Section 34 and SW1/4 of Section 35, T28N, R7W, Pine Crest 7.5 min. topographic map. Access is from the south via a county road off Hwy Y or from the Jacks Fork River. Designated May 27, 1980 and September 18, 1980.

Natural Features

A narrow, steep-walled hollow with dolomite cliffs and ledges, an Ozark headwaters stream and associated plants and animals of the Lower Ozarks Section of the Ozark Natural Division. Barn Hollow Creek is clear with small, deep pools and shallow riffles and ponds created by beavers. The Department of Conservation owns and manages 115 acres of the area. The remaining 45 acres is owned and managed by the National Park Service. Camping, open fires, picnicking and collecting of plants are prohibited.
