Walk A Trail at Burr Oak Woods!
Visit Burr Oak Woods Nature Center and Conservation Area with your family! Burr Oak Woods Nature Center has many interesting exhibits, a 3000 gallon aquarium, a nature gift shop, and a bird viewing area. Call (816) 228-3766 to get information on programs currently available for adults and children.
Burr Oak Woods Nature Center is open Monday through Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.
Enjoy walking any of the five (5) hiking trails that wind through the woodlands and rock outcroppings. Burr Oak Woods is home to many deer and turkey, as well as other wildlife. Burr Oak Woods has 1,071 acres of woodlands, fields, glades, streams, and ponds and is located north of I-70, just west of 7 Highway in Blue Springs.
From March 8th to October 31st , Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area will open at 8:00 am with gates locking promptly at 8:00 pm.

Area Information
- Building Hours
- Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and NOON to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
- Area Hours
- Area is open to vehicles from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily during Daylight Savings Time and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Standard Time.
- Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area gates will close at 5 p.m. beginning November 2.
- The building is closed Thanksgiving, the Friday following, Christmas Day, the Friday following, and New Year's Day.
- Directions
- Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center is located one mile north of I-70 on Hwy 7, then one mile west on Park Road.
- Regulations
- Pets, horses, hunting, fishing, collecting, littering, fires and alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the area. Mushroom collecting is permitted for personal use. Bicycles and motorized vehicles are restricted to paved roads.
